For the first time in my 15 years of selling real estate in Columbus, it is actually more expensive to rent than to own. With lenders becoming more stringent on loaning money, there are more people that have no option but to rent.  In addition, the recent collapse of the housing market has caused consumers to be more cautious in buying, as owning a home may make it difficult to relocate for a job opportunity or to start a new business.  As monthly rents continue to rise and interest rates remain below 4%, buying will be a much more attractive option. When and how long this process will take? That is the million dollar question.
