The first step for many home sellers is to select their listing agent.  For home buyers selecting an agent to help them buy is often the last step in the process. I get it, when selling you sign a listing contract, you are paying the agent, it’s a more formal process. When buying for that matter you don’t even need to  have your own agent at all. But why not take control of the process and do things differently, which will protect your interest and not cost you a dime.

Take the time to select an agent before you get too far ahead of yourself. Most buyers want to avoid an agent but here are some advantages;

  • They will know more about the market and can help you focus on your options much quicker.
  • They sift through all the garbage and make sure you are not making any mistakes, which means they are looking out for your best interest.
  • If they know you are only working with them they won’t be inclined to sell you a home. Once an agent feels secure with their buyer they know it is  just a matter of time before you purchase something.
  • It won’t cost you anything extra. The buyer’s agent commission is paid for by the seller so why not have someone on your side for no additional cost.

Plus why work with the listing agent who is legally obligated to protect the sellers interest by getting the highest price possible at the best terms possible.
